In a tragic development, six football fans died while dozens more were injured during a stampede at the ongoing AFCON.
The tragic incident occurred outside Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon on Monday night.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the incident. They said they were trying to get further information on the incident.
CAF is currently investigating the situation and trying to get more details on what transpired.

Tonight the Caf president, Dr Patrice Motsepe, sent the General Secretary, Véron Mosengo-Omba, to visit the supporters in hospital in Yaoundé,”reads the statement released by CAF .
The incident happened on the day when Cameroon, who are hosting the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), played Comoros in the round of 16.
According to reports reaching iHarare, thousands of supporters were reportedly attempting to gain access into the ground’s south entrance for the round-of-16 match when the tragic mishap occurred.
The Governor of the central region of Cameroon, Naseri Paul Biya, has since suggested that the number of those who died may rise in due time as seven of the victims are reported to be in critical condition .
The victims were ferried to the city’s Messassi hospital where they are admitted.-iharare
