Arts and Culture Entertainment

Baba Harare was the recipient of US$10 000 from Mashwede Holdings family.

The Generator hitmaker was presented with the gift at Alick Macheso’s album launch at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex last Friday. At 23.15pm Mashwede Holdings family took to the stage and presented the gift to Baba Harare.

With the blessings of the generous founder and director Alex Mashamhanda, the family gave Baba Harare US$10 000 cash in front of a live audience who had graced Macheso’s album launch.

In an interview with H-Metro, Baba Harare said he was humbled by Mashwede’s gesture. He did not reveal how he was going to spend the money. Baba Harare said:

I was humbled by the gesture. We are in good books withMr Mashwede, my home boy from Masvingo.

Baba Harare joked that he was not going to disclose how he was going to use the gift he received from Mashwede for fear of being tracked by debt collectors.

His manager Gift Petro said the US$10 000 from Mashwede is not the biggest gift Baba Harare has received so far. Petro said the musician has been receiving gifts for a while. Petro said:

The gesture by Mashwede shows we are growing  and we hope to build on that  show of faith. The US$10k present is not the biggest he has received so far since other people have been donating stuff in some form of property and other things. There are also some who don’t do it publicly so we are happy that we still have nice people backing us

In related news, flamboyant Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire bought Alick Macheso’s latest album for US10 000. Minister Machakaire bought the album during the executive launch hosted by the musician last Thursday.

Speaking after splashing big bucks on the CD, Hon Tino Machakaire said that he bought the CD as a token of appreciation to the music legend.

I have known @alickmacheso3 for a very long time. In all my interactions with him with him, he is very humble and respectful. The CD that I purchased tonight goes beyond just paying for music but it is my token of appreciation to the Living Legend. May he live long !
