Namibia has failed to secure popular American rapper, Rick Ross, for a show citing that the singer is too expensive.
According to The Namibian, Ross’ ambassador and booking agent in Namibia, Julia ‘Boss Lady’ Kadhikwa said the country failed to secure the “Sophisticated” hit maker due to a shortage of US$30 000.
“We have tried to host Rick Ross in Namibia, but the budget was hectic, someone tried booking him and there was a shortage of US$30 000. It would have been really nice to have Rick Ross in Namibia, but we will keep trying, it is not the end.

“Let us watch and learn how others do shows and events. We need to start standing on our own and have these shows without corporate sponsors. If those sponsors say they cannot, it kills a lot of dreams and opportunities,” Kadhikwa said.
Rick Ross, real name William Leonard Roberts II, is scheduled to perform in Zimbabwe at Harare International Conference Center on Friday, November 18, 2022. This maiden visit is courtesy of Roar Entertainment Africa.
Meanwhile, when news of the show broke, Hip Hop fans launched a petition to bar Zimbabwe’s celebrated artists Winky D and Jah Prazyah from performing as curtain-raisers.
The petition was launched by a fan identified as Lennon Emmanuel.
He argued that Winky and Jah Prayzah are not hip hop artists therefore they should not be lined up for the concert.
Ginimbi’s former manager and Roar Entertainment Africa member, Ms Shally spoke on the issue and said the orgainsers were going to consider the people’s concerns.
We have heard people’s concerns and we are promising to put on different artists on this show.
True to her word, two local hip-hop artists have been named as supporting acts, Holy Ten and Takura. South African hip-hop prodigy, Nasty C has also been announced as Ross’ curtain raiser.-iharare
