Man Resurfaces in Prison 22 Years Later, Seeking Answers and Family Reconciliation
In a shocking turn of events, a 40-year-old inmate named Anyway Neshiri, who had been missing for 22 years, resurfaced in Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, leaving his family astounded. Previously convinced of his death, Neshiri’s family had conducted extensive searches in their quest for closure, all in vain.

Growing up under the care of his maternal grandparents, Anyway dropped out of school in Grade Five. He spent years working as a cattle herder while assisting his grandparents. Locals spoke highly of his discipline and strong work ethic.
According to The Sunday Mail, in 2002, Anyway abruptly disappeared from home without informing anyone, leaving his family in a state of despair. Months turned into years as they tirelessly sought his whereabouts, ultimately resigning themselves to the possibility of never finding him again.
Meanwhile, as his family desperately searched for him, Anyway had moved to Chipinge, where he ventured into illegal mining. He got married and had two children but later abandoned his family in Chipinge to seek opportunities at the Chiadzwa diamond fields.-

Years passed, during which Anyway rarely visited his wife and children. His life took a dark turn in 2019 when he returned home and discovered his wife in bed with another man. In an enraged state, he tragically killed his wife, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction with a 40-year prison sentence. The years he has spent behind bars have been tormenting for the convicted murderer.
Seeking Answers and Reconciliation
Apart from the burden of the murder case, Anyway suffers emotionally, burdened by unanswered questions about his life. Despite rehabilitation programs offered by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, he yearns for contact with his family.
In an emotional interview, Anyway expressed his distress, stating,
“No one visits me here. I do not even know if my family members are alive or not. Maybe they died during the Cyclone Idai disaster. I do not sleep well at night. I am stressed.”
He, however, has refused to disclose the reasons behind his initial departure.
Seeking Redemption: A Cursed Fate?
