Zimbabweans and Nigerians in Disbelief as South Africa Is Ranked World’s Friendliest Country

In a surprising turn of events, a recent survey by American-based payments group Remitly has named South Africa as the friendliest country in the world, leaving Zimbabweans and other Africans perplexed.

How South Africa Was Ranked World’s Friendliest Country

The survey, which polled 3,000 participants globally, assessed respondents’ “agreeableness” based on the Big 5 Personality Test. Factors such as concern for others, willingness to make people feel at ease, and overall social harmony were used to determine the rankings.

According to the study, South Africa topped the list with an impressive score of 34.63 out of 40, outpacing other nations like Greece, Croatia, Mexico, and Sweden in the top five.

Remitly praised South Africans, stating that it is common to be greeted by “polite strangers” on the street and that residents are known for their warmth and welcoming nature, making it easy for travellers and visitors to feel comfortable.

Mixed Reactions from Zimbabweans, Nigerians and South Africans

However, the news that South Africa has been crowned the friendliest country has been met with significant scepticism and disbelief from Zimbabweans and other Africans. A section of South Africans agreed with the ranking.-iharare
