It’s a common misconception that celebrities are immune to the same issues we ordinary folks face. But recent reports prove that even the rich and famous aren’t exempt from the flu bug currently sweeping Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is currently experiencing a wave of flu cases, causing concern among citizens who fear it might be a variant of the dreaded Covid-19 virus.

Kikky Badass recently took to her Instagram stories to share that she is “fighting for her life” because of the flu. The curvaceous rapper described the situation as the flu having her in a “chokehold.” Although she did not detail the severity of her symptoms, she made it clear that she was struggling with the illness.

“This flu got me in a chokehold y’all I’m fighting for my life 😭,” Kikky Badass posted on her Instagram stories.

Kikky Badass isn’t alone in her battle against the flu. Similarly, singer Chipo Muchegwa also announced that she is dealing with the flu. On her Facebook page, she informed her fans that she had caught the flu and wasn’t feeling well.

“Flu iya yazondibata iii ndarwara guys,” Muchegwa wrote simply on Facebook.

Fans quickly took to the comments section to wish Muchegwa a speedy recovery.

The flu outbreak in Zimbabwe has caused concern, with many citizens worried that it may be a new variant of the dreaded COVID-19 virus. However, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has clarified that the flu-like illnesses are due to the common cold, which tends to spike during the winter season.

“The Ministry of Health and Child Care would want to reassure the public that the flu-like illnesses seen in the country are due to the common cold. The winter season is associated with increased incidence of common colds and that is what has been seen so far. The cases are neither due to Covid-19 nor other new viruses,” Secretary for Health and Child Care Dr Aspect Maunganidze said at the time.-iharare
