Harare Man steals friend’s car after drinking spree

A Harare man is accused of stealing his friend’s car following a drinking spree.

George Chatambudza made a court appearance on charges of stealing a vehicle that belongs to his friend, Jonathan Shaw.
According to the State’s submission, both individuals engaged in a drinking binge in Greencroft until approximately 2 am.
Due to Shaw’s excessive intoxication, he asked Chatambudza to drive him home, to which Chatambudza agreed. Shaw went to sleep and woke up the following morning around 11 am, only to realize that his car was missing.
When Shaw noticed that Chatambudza was also missing from the house, he promptly filed a police report.
Unfortunately, Shaw had left his cell phone and US$1,500 inside the car.
On Tuesday, an accident involving Shaw’s car occurred, with Chatambudza behind the wheel.
During the investigation, the police discovered that the car had been reported stolen, resulting in Chatambudza’s subsequent arrest.-iharare
