Silent Killer Speaks Out After UK Flight Drama Over Dream: “I Don’t Buy Birds In The Bush”
Controversial Zimdancehall star, Silent Killer, has rubbished claims he refused to board a UK-bound flight because of a dream that the plane would explode.

Speaking out following a storm of speculation, the “Hatitongwi Nemasalad” hitmaker denied the promoter’s version of events, saying the real issue was money — not mystic visions.

“I am not someone who buys birds in the bush,” he said in an interview with DJ Sparks.
“I checked in. I was ready to travel. But I couldn’t perform without payment. That’s not how we operate.”

“I checked in, but I wasn’t paid”
Promoter Fred Matenga of Y2K Promotions claimed Silent Killer mysteriously walked back to his car after checking in at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport. He told a press conference that the artist refused to board a second flight too, locking himself in a toilet.

“Silent Killer refused to board a UK-bound flight because he had a dream it would explode,” Matenga said.

“He locked himself in the airport toilet.”

The artist, whose real name is Jimmy Mudereri, was billed to perform at the SAMA Festival UK 2025 in Leicester on 19 April, alongside Alick Macheso and Mambo Dhuterere.

Matenga claimed the team spent US$1,500 to rebook another ticket, but the same drama played out again.

However, Silent Killer insists the issue was a straightforward matter of respect and professionalism.

“I refused to board the plane without payment. I’m not naïve,” he told DJ Sparks.

Social media reacts
Reactions online were mixed. Many fans rallied behind the artist, saying musicians are often exploited by promoters.

“People are quick to judge. Big up Silent Killer,” posted Tashinga Matongo.

“He’s right. Haungaende pasina mari. Ngatisatorai side risiro,” wrote Hope Ganizani.

Others used humour and metaphor to back him up.

“Vaida kumutengesera shiri iri mudenga,” said Stenford Bradley Gwandu, implying promoters were offering a deal without substance.

“This could’ve been handled privately”
While some blamed Silent Killer’s behaviour on drug use or mental health issues, many defended his actions.

“There’s no proof of drug use,” wrote Bright Bidz Musengi.
“Some people have strong spiritual beliefs. If he had a dream, who are we to judge?”

“This could and should have been handled privately,” added @Nox Guni Music.
“It’s someone’s brand and life.”

As the dust settles, one thing remains clear — Silent Killer says he’s not about to risk his life or his dignity for an unpaid gig.

“I don’t work for promises,” he told DJ Sparks.
“Payment comes first.”-iharare
