Every year Zimbabwe celebrates Independence Day on the 18th of April and this year the celebrations were held at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.
2022 marks 42 years after Zimbabwe attained its independence and this year’s celebrations were held under the theme “Leaving no one and no place behind.”
From the videos and pictures that were shared on the Internet, there were a lot of activities in Bulawayo.

This year, the Children’s party is also expected to be held in Bulawayo.
Recently, the Ministry of Information revealed that the 2022 Children’s party will be attended by 540 learners drawn from the country’s ten provinces.
This is in line with efforts to expose the learners to the country’s history and heritage.
The learners drawn from the provinces will visit the following places in and around Bulawayo: Matopos; Bulawayo Museum; Chipangali Orphanage and Chabalala Sanctuary.
According to the Ministry of Information, His Excellency the President will also grace the soccer match between Highlanders and Dynamos Football Clubs and hand over the Presidential Independence Day Trophy to the winner.
In other news, Zimdancehall star Seh Calaz recently took to his Facebook page and defended United Family International Church (UFIC) founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
This follows after President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga attended a church service at the UFIC International Easter Conference on Saturday in Chitungwiza.
Speaking at the church service, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa showered President Mnangagwa with praise. He said even if President Mnangagwa doesn’t campaign for elections, his works speak for him and campaigns for him.
The development received a mixed reaction from social media users who accused Prophet Makandiwa of being a “false prophet.”-iharare
