ALTERNATIVE hip-hop artiste Kae Chaps, who has taken the music industry by storm with his song Juzi, has sparked debate on social media.
Lately, hip-hop artiste Holy Ten has been making waves in the local music scene with several songs that were well received in the streets and now the other new kid on the block Kae Chaps has released a hit song Juzi which is seemingly an instant hit.
MTV Awards (MAMA) nominee, rapper Asaph was compelled to post on social media pointing out that he is elated with the shift in the local music industry as other urban genres are penetrating the market.
“I hope you are all paying attention to the shift that is happening, new urban genres are taking over and new stars are being given a chance to shine. WE WANT MORE. #JUZI,” posted Asaph on Twitter.
The success of the song Juzi has therefore sparked debate on social media.
Some are of the notion that the local music industry, especially in urban areas, is slowly taking a new shape since more young artistes are recording genres like hip-hop and Afrop pop and making bangers.
The evident impact and the rise of new urban genres has made others compare the era when Zim dancehall overshadowed Urban Grooves when it became popular in 2012-13.
Some music fans are predicting a still competition for Zim dancehall in urban markets, and others are of the radical view that new urban genres might have more impact in the near future like what the Zim dancehall did when it became popular.
Kae Chaps is, however, celebrating the success of his song Juzi as it got over 100k views on YouTube in four days.
“Just a kid from Rugare who chose to make the most of the very few resources he has.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for making a dream come true. 100 000 views YouTube views in only four days! #Juzi,” posted Kae Chaps on social media.-hmetro
