As the national team prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Warriors captain Knowledge Musona has taken to social media to applaud the government for supporting them.
In a post shared by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), Knowledge Musona thanked the government for ensuring that players’ allowances were paid on time. He wrote;
“I would like to thank the Sports and Recreation Commission [government] for their support in paying players’ allowances on time and the camping of the team in Cameroon since 30 December 2021.
“This means a lot to us as players and we really appreciate it.
“As players, we are extremely grateful because it shows us how deeply our government cares about us and football.
“It will motivate us to do well and fight for the country as we always do.
“The team can now fully focus on preparing well for the tournament without any distractions.
“We are extremely grateful”.
Musona said that the allowance is going to motivate them to play well and focus on the game without any distractions.
The Warriors are currently in Cameroon for the Afcon games. In their first group match, the warriors take on Senegal on the 10th of January.
Meanwhile, several key players have missed the trip to Cameroon due to injury, that is, Marvelous Nakamba, Marshal Munetsi and Brendan Galloway, while Tendayi Darikwa was not included in the squad for personal reasons.-iharare
