Zimbabwean Singer Tina Masawi Performs At Real Madrid Defender Dani Carvajal’s Wedding

Zimbabwean singer and songwriter Tina Masawi got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when she performed at the wedding of a Real Madrid player.

Masawi sang as Dani Carvajal tied the knot with his longterm partner Daphne Cañizares last Friday. The magnificent wedding was held in the Spanish city of Segovia.

Tina Masawi who is originally from Zimbabwe is based in Barcelona. She sings a wide variety of genres including RnB, Blues, Pop, Afrobeats and house music.

She said performing at the Real Madrid defender’s wedding was a dream come true for her. Speaking on how the opportunity came about, Masawi highlighted the importance of having an online presence as a creative. She said:

Their wedding planner reached out to me on their behalf, they found me online I imagine.

Masawi said this was not the first time she has been requested to perform at a footballer’s wedding. She however could not perform at the wedding of the unnamed footballer due to another commitment. Masawi said:

I was asked to perform at an FC Barcelona footballer’s wedding a couple of years back and couldn’t go due to another commitment and I was hoping another opportunity like this would come around so I am very glad that it did.

She sang an English classic song for Dani Carvajal and his bride Daphne Cañizares. Tina Masawi said nerves got the better of her at first but she eventually pulled herself together. She said:

It felt amazing and yes I was a little nervous beforehand as it was a very intimate moment but as soon as the spotlight came on, I did what I know how to do best, felt right at home. It was an amazing experience.

The wedding ceremony was attended by Dani Carvajal’s Real Madrid teammates including Marco Asensio, Thibaut Courtois, Federico Valverde, and Lucas Vasquez among others.-iharare
