Zimbabweans Sympathise With Peter Ndlovu As He Struggles To Pay Maintenance For 13 Children
Former Mamelodi Sundowns player and Zimbabwe national football team captain Peter Ndlovu is struggling to pay maintenance for his 13 children.
Ndlovu, who is Mamelodi Sundowns team manager, breathed a sigh of relief after the Johannesburg High Court reduced the amount of child maintenance one of the mothers of his 13 children was demanding.
Ndlovu approached the Johannesburg High Court challenging a decision by a lower court ordering him to pay R30 000 as maintenance for the two children he fathered with the woman whose name cannot be named for legal reasons.
In his appeal, Peter Ndlovu said the amount that the mother was demanding for their two children would affect his other 11 children whom he is paying maintenance for. To his relief, the high court reduced the amount to R12 000 and ordered it to be deducted from Ndlovu’s salary.
Part of his high court appeal read:
I have 13 children, including the two with the first respondent. I am obliged to contribute and see to the maintenance of all of my 13 children. I earn a salary which is utilised for my own living expenses, needs, necessities and liabilities, as well as to contribute to my dependents’ expenses and other obligations. I can simply not afford a deduction of R29 845 per month from my salary.
Upon learning that the former striker is struggling to pay maintenance for his 13 children, Zimbabweans on Twitter sympathised with Peter Ndlovu.
