Doubts over Sadiki move to Caps

CAPS United’s bid to sign veteran forward Ali Sadiki has stalled amid reports of disagreements over personal terms.

The former FC Platinum forward, who also played for TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was playing for Kabwe Warriors in Zambia before he decided to return home.

His availability after parting ways with the Zambian club aroused Caps United’s interest to sign him. He has been training with them as negotiations continue.

However, informed sources said he has since stopped training with the Harare giants because there has been no progress on the talks.

Yesterday, he told NewsDay Sport that he would return to training to help the club get out of the relegation dogfight.

“I think I will go there. Caps is a big club and it is sad to see them in this situation. I would want to help them, but I don’t know,” he said without elaborating.

Caps chief executive Charlie Jones, however, said the club was determined to sign him.

“We are still in talks. I am supposed to meet with him today (yesterday). We are also still to finalise on Blessing Sarupinda,” he said.

Sarupinda is in the books of Sekhukhune United in South Africa, but has been struggling for game time.

A deal has reportedly been struck to bring him on loan.

He is one of the players expected to join the Green Machine when the July transfer window opens.

Caps desperately need to start winning after enduring a dreadful run of results which has seen them lose seven straight matches, edging them towards the drop zone.
