Former Bikita West legislator, Munyaradzi Kereke who was jailed for raping his niece at gunpoint has been granted a $500 000 bail pending appeal at The Supreme Court.
Kereke is appealing against both conviction and 14-year jail term for raping his then 11-year-old relative at gunpoint, The Herald reports.
The State proved that Kereke raped his niece at his Vainona home and Magistrate Noel Mupeiwa handed down judgement against him on July 11, 2016.
Kereke made several attempts to gain freedom after maintaining that in convicting him of rape, the magistrate’s court erred and misdirected itself.
