Gripping Shootout in Domboshava: ZRP Arrests Two Robbers, One Killed

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested two robbers while another died at Parirenyatwa Hospital after a shootout in Domboshava.

The arrested robbers are Kenneth Chiputura (50), Jason Munyapa (18) and Raymond Mugabe (39), who allegedly committed daring spates of armed robberies between 31 May and 23 July 2024 in Harare.

Speaking in a statement on the ZRP’s X handle, Chief of Staff Officer, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the police acted on a tipoff and arrested Kenneth Chiputura at his home in Nhamburo village, Chinamhora in Domboshava. He had bullet proof vests and 40 Chinese Yuan at home.

Comm. Nyathi added:

“Further investigations by the detectives led to the arrest of Jason Munyapa on 27 July 2024. He was found in possession of a CZ 75 SP-01 pistol, a Retay airgun and an empty bottle of Champagne.”

After apprehending the two robbers, the police proceeded to arrest Raymond Mugabe, who was hiding in Dzorwa Village, Chinamhora, Domboshava. The suspect fired shots at the detectives, and a gun fight ensued before the detectives overpowered him and he died at Parirenyatwa Hospital.

After the gun exchange, the ZRP found a CZ P-07 pistol, an empty bottle of wine, 0.44 magnum revolver, a Grand power 9mm pistol with empty magazine, nine 9mm magazines, 1000 9mm live rounds, 28 x 303 live rounds and nine magnum rounds.

The trio targeted two houses in Mandara, where they took off with US$15,000, four guns and jewellery at one, and US$1 cash and jewellery worth US$1,000.
