Talented Zim Prodigy Moves To Belgium, Here Is What You Need To Know About Bill Antonio

Talented Zimbabwean prodigy Bill Antonio has secured a move to Belgium, signing a contract with KV Mechelen.

This comes after the Dynamos sensational teenager spent a month in Belgium, where he had gone for trials. After impressing during the trials, the Belgian side, KV Mechelen signed Antonio for an undisclosed fee.


Speaking to the media after he secured his move to the Belgian side, Antonio said:

“It’s such a great achievement, straight from Zimbabwe to Europe, but all I have to say to the Dynamos family is; thank you for all the support.

“Where I’m going, I will never forget the Dynamos family. Playing in the blue kit is something every footballer wishes for.”

Early Life And Education
The 19-year-old Antonio grew up in Dzivarasekwa, Harare.

The sensational winger did his primary education at Gillingham Primary and during his primary education, Antonio started playing football in grade five.

Due to his talent, Antonio joined Dzivarasekwa Football Academy in grade six before Prince Edward came calling for his services. During that period, he played for Diamond Eagles Academy.

Bill Antonio captained the Under-14 side before being drafted into the senior team three years later, where he was also named the skipper.

At Prince Edward, Antonio also captained the school athletics team.

Antonio did his Advanced level studies at Prince Edward, where he specialised in Arts subjects; Literature in English, History and Family and Religious Studies.

Career
During his stint with Dzivarasekwa Academy, Bill Antonio won the Junior League and came out as the top goal scorer.

He was also part of the Prince Edward team that clinched the Harare Schools Championship between 2017 and 2018.

Bill Antonio also featured for Zimbabwe’s Under 20 team and the Young Warriors at the COSAFA U20 Youth Championship, where he charmed several local clubs.

Following his outstanding performances during the tournament, Dynamos Football Club lured the talented Antonio to the Glamour Boys-a move that they do not regret.

In November 2021, Antonio was part of the Zimbabwe Warriors squad that played the World Cup qualifiers away to South Africa and at home versus Ethiopia replacing Macauley Bonne.-iharare
