ZANU PF Director for Information and Publicity, Tafadzwa Mugwadi has said Winky D twisted Holy Ten’s lyrics into something political after signing a contract with the US embassy in Zimbabwe.

Writing on Twitter, Mugwadi warned Winky D against following in the steps of Chimurenga music icon Thomas Mapfumo who is now a mere shadow of his former glory due politics.

Artists are no fools. You can never abuse them to resurrect collapsed irrelevant opposition agendas. @holytenmusic has clarified that. They were made to drop their lyrics before Wink D brought his own twisted version having signed a contract with @USEmbZim, which I am in possession

I will not attack WinkyD for hw he expresses himself. His views are not society’s views. I only feel pity when he glorifys anti-pple views to further lame politics. Lesson is former Chimurenga guru Mukanya who is now a pale shaddow of his former-self. He was shown a middle finger

This comes after Holy Ten said he now regrets working with Winky D on his latest offering.

In the new album, Winky D collaborated with Holy Ten on a song called Ibotso, which the latter now regrets being part of as it has been “politicised.”

Writing on Twitter, Holy Ten highlighted that the politicisation of the song is harming his brand.

Activists, journalists, lawyers – Split opinions will not do any good for a brand that’s trying to serve & save everyone so help me by not acting like I’ve picked a side. Do not politicize a project that I’ve considered a mere honor to be a part of. I regret it now honestly

Meanwhile, Mike Chimombe-led youth empowerment outfit, Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) has called for Winky D’s ban from performing in the country.-iharare
