Zimbabwe To Start Vaccinating 16 & 17 Year Olds

The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services has urged all stakeholders to start the Covid-19 vaccination campaign of the 16-17 year old age group with immediate effect.

In a media briefing, Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said the only vaccine type eligible for the 16-17 year old age group is the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine.May Interest you

Minister Mutsvangwa said:

“All the provinces, secondary schools, colleges, universities and vaccination centres are advised to commence the vaccination campaign of the 16-17 year old age group with immediate effect.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the only vaccine type eligible for the 16-17 year old age group is the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine.

“Based on the available scientific data in line with Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe guidance, the specialist paediatricians have recommended the vaccination of the 16-17 years age group with the Sinovac vaccine.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information has also said that the Level 2 Covid-19 National Lockdown has been extended by another two weeks.

“The last two weeks has seen a reduction in the number of cases of Covid19 which has resulted in the country recording an average of 45 new cases per day… This indicates that the lockdown… measures… in place are effective in controlling the transmission of the virus”

“…The level 2 lockdown is hereby extended for another two weeks by the Acting President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Hon General (Rtd) Dr. C.D.G.N Chiwenga”
