Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin were officially launched in Zimbabwe and 7 other African countries last night. However, Zimbabweans appear not to have been impressed by the launch event.

Earlier this month, the 34-year-old announced that she would officially launch her beauty and skincare products in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Zimbabweans on social media appear to be in consensus that the launch event of Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin was largely underwhelming and disappointing.   According to some Zimbabweans online, the event lacked style and was not a good representation of the country.

Below are some of the reactions by Zimbabweans to the Fenty launch,

@Tamy

Rihanna must be weeping after seeing that launch!!!

@vamushongazw

Is this sanctioned by Rihanna?

@iamgabs1_

All crust and zero style. Rihanna would be so disappointed.

@__TumiM

Why does it look like a political event?

@MissKay_zw

Not a single face of Fenty in sight  did I miss something?

@Dobie_M

I legit thought the “Fenty kuVanhu” jokes on the TL before the launch were actual jokes. Y’all knew?

@__Tatenda

Wait, if they didn’t mention about a product range launch, I would’ve mistaken the event for a bourgeois political rally.

@S_Harudzibwi

Everyone wondering where the young ones are; these are the results of the new dispensation on the re-engagement front. What’s important is that Zimbabwe is now doing business with America, the older people present are a sign of patriotism.

@TshumaLavender

We won’t survive any twar this year.

@Anitta_Nxusa

Hold on??? Where are the people who know what contouring is? Where are the influencers?? Africa has let Rihanna down asoze

@MgciniNyoni

This doesn’t look like a @fentybeauty launch: Hoping that this is just a reflection of ZBC’s incompetence, not the actual launch. Where are the well-lit images of models, products…?

@boo_nolss

This is why they don’t bring things to Africa.

@bottomongo

Why is home girl there?? a whole politician? Where are the Insta girlies?? Please, this is embarrassing
