PSL Fails To Secure Sponsorship For Mini-league

There will be no local football matches this year after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) could not secure funding for the proposed mini-league tournament.

PSL chairman, Farai Jere said they could not secure sponsorship for the envisaged mini-tournament as companies had exhausted their budgets and were no longer in a position to fund football. Said, Jere:

Unfortunately, it was close to year-end and companies had exhausted their budgets and could not come on board to assist with financing the tournament.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) was granted permission by Government to have the PSL and women’s Super League return to action after all football matches were banned in March under measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The competitions were set to have been held under a bio-bubble in a mini-league format but this will no longer be possible this year.
