Sha Sha Rocks Iconic Zimbabwe Venue, But Chaos Takes the Stage: 12 Fans Hospitalized

On Sunday, during a performance by Amapiano sensation Sha Sha, chaos erupted at Jongwe Corner Chinhoyi, resulting in at least 12 individuals sustaining injuries that required hospitalization.

This was Sha Sha’s debut performance in the historical town, which has recently become a favourite venue for both local and South African musicians.

According to management at the venue, the disturbance was caused by local rivals seeking to disrupt the show. A group of thugs created havoc, causing physical and psychological harm to numerous attendees.

Reports indicate that twelve people who were injured during the chaos were taken to a hospital for medical attention.

National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi has confirmed that the police are investigating the incident. He said if police are not to blame they want to establish the person behind the attack.

His statement comes amid suggestions that chaos ensued after police threw teargas into the crowd.

“We are investigating the case to find the motive of the attack. If the police were not involved, we want to find out the person behind the attack,” he said.

Jongwe Corner Management Blame Rivals For Chaos

David Mupambi, the manager of Jongwe Corner, expressed his suspicion that rival groups were behind the chaos. He stated, “This is clearly sabotage. It is unacceptable that it occurred in a packed house.”

Recently, Jongwe Corner has been hosting prominent events that management believes may have upset some of their rivals in Chinhoyi.

Dr Collect Mawire, the Medical Superintendent at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, verified that a few patients were admitted, treated, and later discharged except for one who had one too many.

“I can confirm that some patients came complaining of injuries but were treated and discharged except one patient who was heavily intoxicated, and we had to monitor him and he slept overnight,” he said.

The fan that stayed overnight at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital told H-Metro that he could not remember what happened. He recalled fainting and then waking up in the hospital. He was released on Monday.-iharare
